What Did You Do Over the Holidays? We Launched Two New Sites!

The ContentRobot Team hasn’t posted since we wished our readers the happiest of holidays … so, what have we been doing in the meantime?

Our new client, Nine Lives Media, wanted to take the wraps off of their two new sites — MSP Mentor and The VAR Guy — by the first week of the new year.

We worked with Nine Lives Media to:

  • Install and configure WordPress and a bunch of plugins on their own host
  • Create 2 unique, but related, designs that captured the essence of each brand
  • Develop 2 fairly-customized WordPress themes
  • Convert existing blog posts and comments
  • Oh yeah, can you launch them in 5 weeks?

GrokDotCom is a Blog Success Story

At the beginning of 2007, we helped GrokDotCom to convert their newsletter and two earlier blog attempts into one massive WordPress-based blog resource.

Jeffrey Eisenberg, in his recent post, You and I, Still Learning About Blogging remarked on its success.

The idea was that, while reintroducing Grok, we wanted our readers to be engaged in the conversation. So, we explained ourselves and kindly asked folks to resubscribe to the newsletter or RSS feed. A few baffled fan emails and comments later, we were off and running. And today, less than six months later, Technorati considers us to be one of the top 5k blogs. (GrokDotCom ranked around 42,000 six months ago.) Of course, we didn’t end the newsletter; we’ve just decided to open it up, so you can get fresh content daily, weekly, or monthly (your choice) in the form of featured articles, blog posts, and podcasts.

We are excited about Grok’s evolution and are glad to be a part of it!

ContentRobot Help Shop.org Launch a Blog for its Members

Shop.org launched its member blog today. It’s an intrablog, meaning that is currently available only to its members and is password-protected.

Shop.org is an association that is comprised of interactive executives from more than 500 nationally-recognized retail brands (both big and small). They participate to share information, lessons-learned, new perspectives, insights and intelligence about online and multichannel retailing.

To extend their diverse community online, Shop.org wanted to develop a blog where their members could write about their expertise and experiences to spur lively conversation (perhaps even a bit of a debate) that helps others to uncover best practices and solutions that work.

All Shop.org members are encouraged to write as many stories as they wish and to comment freely on others’ posts.

Features:

  • A clean and stylish two column WordPress theme that compliments the Shop.org logo.
  • Authors are prominently listed its contributors in the right column. They have their own RSS feeds so members can subscribe to any contributor or get the entire blog’s content RSS feed as well.
  • Topics include: affiliate programs, analytics, IT, marketing & consumer trends, e-commerce, search engine marketing, web 2.0 and user generated content.
  • ContentRobot worked closely with the Shop.org team to create Blogging Guidelines and specific Corporate Policies that detailed who can post, how comments would be handled, and how members join the blog.
