Skiing Does Refresh the Blogger’s Soul

Our last post described a very hairy week for ContentRobot. We had hoped that the weekend and a day of skiing would allow us to put it to rest and refresh.

It worked! We were able to hit the slopes and remember that ContentRobot had successfully worked through our issues. Our great clients can ultimately benefit from our latest challenges.

So why do we have such an attitude adjustment? We are looking forward to many things: Read the Entire Post >

The Bad Week Week

Have you ever had one of those days? You know the ones, you wake up with a little spring in your step only to be squashed like a bug? We don’t know if it’s due to the recent change to daylight saving time or what. While we were excited about those longer days, we forgot about the dark mornings.

But we digress. So what happened at ContentRobot this week to bum us out?

SERVER ISSUES
We recently decided to move the ContentRobot domain to a new host, but the migration has proven to be to nothing short of exasperating. First, it was the inability to connect to our mail that required us to contact support. Then, it was adding in our subdomains that caused more problems. But this week took the cake, as our site could have been down for 24 hours with little help from the host (who apparently is undergoing a technology transition and forgetting their customers). Thankfully with a bit of our own technical wizardry and a backup plan, we were really only down for an hour.

RIP Netscape

Today Netscape died.

While some say it was already gone, whether beaten in the “browser wars” of the 1990s or killed by its acquisition by AOL in 1998, it’s now officially unsupported and there will no longer be any more releases.

How Do I Love Blogging? Let Me Count the Ways

As a nod to Valentine’s Day, Karen offers the reasons she loves blogs and blogging.

  1. Blogging is primarily writing, and I enjoy the whole creative process (from research to words on the screen) while crafting useful posts.
  2. I can provide an exclusive point-of-view while sharing my thoughts and views that say: “I’m uniquely me, and only I can tell this story.”
  3. I get to be a part of creating conversations, layered with both fact and opinion, that could be revisited, meditated, shared, commented, and extended.
  4. I am part of the new media world and work within a community of people whom I respect.
  5. I read other blogs for anything delightful, surprising, and thought-provoking so I can be enriched both personally and professionally.
  6. I like to finding new ideas, rethink old ideas, and be informed and educated by the hearts and minds of the best bunch of people I’ve never met.
  7. I get to work with a partner who inspires me to push the envelope and explore talents that are just waiting to bust out.
  8. I get to mentor clients who want to passionately communicate, collaborate, and impart knowledge about their companies and themselves.
  9. I can provide expertise to help others find their blgging voice for hobby blogs to corporate blogs and any blogs in between.
  10. I get to combine my passions and talents of writing and technology to enhance online experiences. What can be better than finding your bliss?

  • Blog writers and editors will resolve to educate, share, provoke, and entertain with their blog posts.
  • Blog software developers will resolve to continue to add more functionality to make it easy to blog and help spread blog usage.
  • Blog publishers will resolve to launch blogs that are beautifully designed, meticulously thought-out, and well-run for the short and long terms.
  • Blog spammers will resolve to not ruin this new medium and its growth with malicious content.
  • Blog advertisers will resolve to provide decent, elegant ways to provide revenue streams.
  • ContentRobot will resolve to nurture the blogs we are charged with and promote blogging as the great communication tool that it is.

Personal Reflection: John Lennon

Today is the 25th anniversary of John Lennon’s brutal murder in New York city. I join the collective mourners by thinking of him today.

Why do I mention the former Beatle on a blog about blogging? Because I always thought that John would have embraced blogging and would have been a prolific blogger spreading his message of peace and love.

RIP Mr. Lennon. We miss you.
