Waking up to WordPress 2.9

Sometimes its the surprise gifts that are the best. While not exactly under our tree, we woke up to read that Automattic released WordPress 2.9 yesterday (here’s is the official announcement).

What comes in the shiny, new package?:

  • Global undo/”trash” feature – bring back any posts and comments that were accidentally deleted (Matt Mullenweg said this was his favorite feature at WordCamp NY last month)
  • Built-in image editor – crop, edit, rotate, flip, and scale your images as you are

Have You Upgraded to the Latest WP Yet? 2.8.6 is Here!

It’s a great time to upgrade your WordPress blog today. Automattic has released 2.8.6, which patches some more security holes. According to WordPress’s blog:

2.8.6 fixes two security problems that can be exploited by registered, logged in users who have posting privileges.  If you have untrusted authors on your blog, upgrading to 2.8.6 is recommended.

Upgrade to WordPress 2.8.5 and Patch Those Security Holes

WordPress has had a heck of a time trying to stay ahead of evil hackers following the summer of exploits.

Unfortunately, several of our clients had been among those affected, but everyone got back up and running with an upgrade and some deep cleaning.

Two WordPress Goodies Announced This Week

This proved to be a great week for WordPress fans:

  1. Sneak Peek of the Visual Design WordPress 2.7: We think it’s a great visual upgrade and can’t wait to see if it lives up to it’s promise! Will the WP community gets frustrated with all the interface updates they have endured in recent upgrades?
  2. Automattic Acquires PollDaddy: Polling gets native for WP.COMers and a plugin is available for the rest of us. Matt Mullenweg said polling is big and we
