ContentRobot launches SNOWatHOME Website

ContentRobot launched the SNOWatHOME website today. While this newly redesigned site did not include a blog or blogging tools, ContentRobot provided a variety of technical expertise to successfully complete the project.

What ContentRobot did for SNOWatHOME:

  • Website Redesign Conversion: To expand their audience and make the site easier to update, ContentRobot converted SNOWatHOME’s new design into Macromedia Dreamweaver templates. Formerly in Microsoft FrontPage, the redesigned look features an updated SNOWatHOME logo and a more standard 3 column design.
  • Updated the E-Commerce Experience: ContentRobot integrated LiteCommerce to better handle customers, PayPal processing, international shipping, and various delivery options. To take advantage of the new toolset, ContentRobot also assisted SNOWatHOME in converting to a new host and installing SSL (online security) for peace-of-mind purchasing.
  • Added Photo and Video Viewers: ContentRobot incorporated Proxus FLV Player, which takes advantage of Macromedia Flash, to showcase the videos. The versatile (also Flash-based) SlideShowPro allows visitors to check out SNOWatHOME photos by album, to step through individual photos (including clicking to actual size) or to view slideshows. ContentRobot customized these applications to SNOWatHOME’s colors and specifications.
  • Incorporated the Snowmaking Weather Tool: SNOWatHOME developed a unique online tool that allows site visitors to see if they can make snow on any given day and how many times they could make it the previous year. ContentRobot installed and incorporated it into the new site.

Content Robot Launches Education Insiders’ Blog-Powered Website

ContentRobot launched the Education Insider blog-powered website today. This site’s goal is to connect public school stakeholders with state education policy in an entirely new way.

Education Insider wanted to develop a website that would package certain topic much like a printed edition. When they write stories and choose the appropriate categories (see them below), they are published together on the front page to comprise a “publication.” When Education Insider chooses other categories, the posts will be displayed in the blog and not as part of the publication.

Highlights:

  • The site focuses on a specific issue per month, reporting within the following categories: “On The Table (news and developments),” “Backstory” (background and perspective), “Commentary” (editorial observations) and “What You Can Do” (action items).
  • They also discuss a variety of other stories and information in their blog.
  • When visitors land on the Education Insider site, they’ll notice that they can initially see only article teasers. Registered members get the entire article.
  • Readers to get latest information by tracking with an RSS feed or receiving an emailed newsletter.
  • An informative video resides on the home page, and they expect to create podcasts in the future.

ContentRobot WordPress Customizations

  • By creating specific categories, CR could indicate where to publish and display these related articles.
  • The site grants entire article access to only its registered members.
