Great article! I was not aware of how much RSS feeds can influence traffic so I will definitely be investigating this. My new blog http://technical-recipes.com has been getting reasonable traffic since it started but there is definitely room for improvement.

A few other things to mention.

1) Install wordpress file monitor – it notifies you of changes to files both in the dashboard and via email

2) ensure your htaccess file is properly setup; such as blocking access to includes and other sensitive areas

3) make sure TIMTHUMB is updated. trust me – you’ll want to check this urgently.
